Odisha to Host International Symposium on Millets and Forgotten Foods

Odisha is set to host an international symposium on Shree Anna (millets) and forgotten foods on November 10 and 11, aimed at celebrating the state’s agricultural heritage and promoting sustainable food practices. The event, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, will be held in Bhubaneswar.

Titled ‘Celebrating Shree Anna & Agricultural Heritage of Odisha’, the symposium will focus on the vital role of millets and other traditional foods in ensuring food security and advancing sustainable agricultural practices. The two-day event will feature expert talks, panel discussions, and presentations on various aspects of millet cultivation, its benefits, and the conservation of forgotten food varieties.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the symposium, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in promoting the state’s agricultural heritage and ensuring a more resilient and sustainable food system. The symposium is expected to attract participants from various countries, including farmers, agricultural experts, and policymakers.
