Odisha to Expand Backyard Poultry Farming to All Districts

The Odisha government, in partnership with a private organization, is set to expand its innovative backyard poultry farming initiative across all 30 districts, aiming to empower rural women and promote self-reliance.
Speaking at an event on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo highlighted the success of the program, which has already been implemented in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, benefiting 50 women farmers.
“This initiative is transforming lives by providing rural women with sustainable livelihoods. We aim to replicate this success across the state,” said Singhdeo.
The backyard poultry model focuses on low-cost, sustainable farming techniques that generate steady income for women farmers. The Deputy CM urged the organization to collaborate with district administrations to ensure the program’s smooth implementation statewide.
The initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader mission to enhance rural livelihoods through innovative and sustainable agricultural practices. Authorities hope this expansion will contribute significantly to women’s empowerment and rural development.
