Odisha Seeks ₹3,069 Crore from Centre Under RDSS

The Odisha government has urged the Centre to expedite the sanction of ₹3,069 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to improve the state’s power infrastructure and reduce distribution losses.

Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo made the request during a meeting with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal in New Delhi on Tuesday, according to an official statement.

Highlighting the critical need for infrastructure development and reforms in the power sector, Singh Deo emphasized that early release of funds under RDSS would help Odisha strengthen its distribution network and reduce aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses.

The RDSS, launched by the Union Ministry of Power, aims to modernize and enhance the reliability of electricity distribution systems across India, with a key focus on reducing AT&C losses to below 15% at the national level.

Odisha’s power department has already submitted detailed project reports and proposals for fund allocation under the scheme. The Deputy CM urged the Centre to take early action to ensure timely implementation of these initiatives.

Officials said the funds will be used for feeder segregation, system strengthening, smart metering, and improvement of sub-transmission and distribution networks in rural and urban areas of the state.
