Vigilance Raids Unearth Engineer’s Illegal Assets

Vigilance Raids Unearth Disproportionate Assets of Odisha Assistant Engineer

In a major crackdown on corruption, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday unearthed massive assets allegedly disproportionate to the known sources of income of an assistant engineer posted in the Road & Building Division-III in Bhubaneswar.

According to an official statement, the vigilance personnel seized 13 plots of land, two high-value flats, and several commercial establishments during raids conducted across multiple locations linked to the engineer. The raids were carried out following search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Ten separate teams of Vigilance officials launched simultaneous raids on the engineer’s properties, offices, and other suspected premises. The operation was part of an ongoing drive to detect and curb corruption in public services.

“Initial findings suggest that the engineer has amassed wealth grossly disproportionate to his legal income,” a senior vigilance officer said, adding that detailed valuation of the assets and financial records is underway.

The Vigilance Department has initiated further investigation to determine the full extent of the engineer’s assets and any possible involvement of associates or benami holders. The department is also examining bank accounts, documents, and other financial instruments seized during the raid.

This action reinforces the state government’s commitment to zero tolerance against corruption and irregularities in public offices.
