Odisha Reports 7 New COVID-19 Cases, Tally Rises to 30


Bhubaneswar, June 6 : Odisha has recorded seven new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of infections in the state to 30, official sources confirmed on Friday.

According to Odisha Public Health Director Dr. Nilakatha Mishra, seven of the 30 patients have already recovered, while 23 remain active. He assured the public that the situation remains under control and emphasized that none of the active cases are currently serious.

Dr. Mishra clarified that the state government has not issued any new advisory or guidelines so far but remains in close coordination with the Union Health Ministry.

He urged citizens not to panic, stating that all reported infections are linked to mild sub-variants of the Omicron strain of the virus.

Most of the recent cases have emerged from the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, along with Khordha district. Khordha has reported the highest number of infections, with 16 active cases, followed by Cuttack with nine.

Other districts that have reported positive cases include Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore.

The health department continues to monitor the situation and has advised people to maintain basic hygiene and stay alert, although no specific restrictions have been imposed as yet.
