Bhubaneswar, June 6 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday called upon newly recruited government employees to uphold honesty and steer clear of corruption, reinforcing his government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against graft.
Addressing a large gathering at a recruitment event, the Chief Minister said, “From today onwards, you will have the opportunity to serve the people of Odisha as part of the government. I am confident that you will provide services with commitment and dedication, understanding the challenges and aspirations of the people.”
Majhi reminded the recruits of their duty to ensure justice for the poor and marginalized, emphasizing ethical governance and public service delivery.
The event saw the appointment of 1,294 officers and employees from seven departments. Majhi shared the government’s ambitious plan to fill 1.5 lakh government posts over the next five years. “In the first two years alone, we plan to fill 65,000 posts, including the 27,428 appointments made today,” he announced.
Highlighting recent reforms, the Chief Minister noted that the state assembly has passed a bill to ensure transparency in the recruitment process and raised the employment age limit to 42 years to widen opportunities.
Looking ahead, he revealed that at least 1.3 lakh jobs are expected to be created in Odisha’s industrial sector, and urged the youth to become “industry-ready.” He cited the Odisha Excellence Programme, under which 90,000 jobs have already been generated within just four months.
During the ceremony, Majhi personally handed over appointment letters to 30 new officers representing all 30 districts. He also encouraged the recruits to plant a tree in their mother’s name under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, promoting both environmental awareness and emotional connection to nature.
