Odisha Police to Boost Manpower, Adopt Technology to Fight Human Trafficking: DGP

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP Y B Khurania) on Friday said the state police is taking concrete steps to strengthen its Integrated Anti-Human Trafficking Units (IAHTUs) by deploying more manpower and adopting advanced technology to effectively tackle human trafficking.

Speaking at a state-level conference on human trafficking held in Bhubaneswar, Khurania stressed that trafficking remains a grave concern not only for Odisha but for the entire country.

“The police department is committed to bolstering its efforts through increased coordination, use of data-driven intelligence, and greater inter-agency collaboration,” he said, addressing officers from the police, labour, and social welfare departments who are actively working on anti-trafficking initiatives.

The DGP emphasised the importance of awareness, victim rehabilitation, and preventive policing as key pillars in combating human trafficking, calling for joint efforts from all stakeholders to ensure the safety and dignity of vulnerable populations.
