Odisha launches women’s health empowerment campaign

1.5 Crore Women in Odisha to Benefit from ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ Campaign: CM

Over 1.5 crore women in Odisha are set to benefit from the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Wednesday. The initiative was launched nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote women’s health and well-being.

Majhi made the announcement while attending the state-level inauguration of the campaign in Bhubaneswar, where he was joined by Governor Haribabu Kambhampati. On the occasion, the CM also inaugurated a health screening stall to mark the beginning of various activities planned under the programme.

The fortnight-long campaign focuses on creating awareness about women’s health, nutrition, and balanced diet, while also highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare. As part of the drive, blood donation camps and other health-related events will be conducted across districts.

Speaking at the event, Majhi underlined the importance of empowering women through health initiatives. “Healthy women are the foundation of a strong society. This campaign will empower our women and, in turn, build a healthier Odisha,” he said.

According to officials, the state government will collaborate with community organisations and healthcare providers to ensure wider outreach, particularly in rural and tribal regions, where access to healthcare often remains limited.

The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to improving women’s health indicators in Odisha, aligning with the broader goal of building stronger families and communities.
