Odisha Launches On-Call AI for Dairy

Odisha Becomes First State to Provide On-Call Artificial Insemination for Dairy Farmers

Bhubaneswar, Apr 3: In a groundbreaking initiative to boost milk production and support dairy farmers, Odisha has become the first state in India to offer on-call Artificial Insemination (AI) services. This pioneering move aims to modernize animal breeding and enhance dairy productivity across the state.

The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department has introduced this service, enabling dairy farmers to avail themselves of artificial insemination for their cows and buffaloes from the comfort of their homes. Farmers can book the service by dialing the toll-free number 155333, ensuring timely and efficient breeding assistance.

Under this system, once a farmer places a call, their request is registered, and AI workers in their locality are notified to carry out the insemination. The process is completed using an OTP-based verification system, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Additionally, the initiative facilitates real-time tracking and monitoring of breeding-related issues in dairy animals, further improving animal health and productivity.

The state government’s initiative reinforces its commitment to modernizing the dairy sector and increasing milk production through scientific breeding practices. To recognize excellence in service delivery, ten AI workers were recently awarded for their outstanding contributions during the state-level Fisheries and ARD Fair – Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO) 2025.

Officials have confirmed that efforts are underway to extend this service to more districts, ensuring wider accessibility for dairy farmers across Odisha. This progressive step is expected to significantly benefit livestock owners, providing them with an easy and effective solution to improve breeding efficiency and dairy output in the state.
