BJD MP Muzibulla Khan Opposes Waqf Bill in Rajya Sabha; Party Allows Free Vote
New Delhi, April 3: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Muzibulla Khan on Thursday opposed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Rajya Sabha, stating that the entire Muslim community was concerned about its implications.
During the debate, Khan argued that the bill contradicts the Narendra Modi government’s slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, aur Sabka Vishwas”. He expressed apprehensions that the proposed amendments could negatively impact the rights of the Muslim community.
However, BJD’s leader in the Rajya Sabha, Sasmit Patra, clarified that the party had not issued a whip on the bill, allowing its members to vote according to their conscience.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, has stirred discussions across political lines, with opposition members raising concerns over its impact on Waqf properties and the Muslim community at large.
