Odisha Launches Gramodaya Scheme to Boost Welfare in LWE-Affected Villages
Bhubaneswar, October 9, 2024: The Odisha government has rolled out the Gramodaya scheme, aimed at ensuring that welfare programs effectively reach residents of villages in Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected districts, according to an official statement.
The initiative will benefit 583 villages spread across 10 districts impacted by LWE activities. The scheme is designed to bridge gaps in service delivery, ensuring that government welfare programs, including healthcare, education, livelihood support, and infrastructure development, reach these remote areas.
The notification for the Gramodaya scheme was issued by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department on Tuesday. The announcement follows Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s commitment to improving conditions in LWE-affected regions during a meeting of chief ministers from LWE-impacted states, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday.
The government hopes the Gramodaya scheme will empower vulnerable communities, improve access to basic amenities, and help mitigate the influence of extremism in the state.
