Odisha Identifies 3,009 Beggars for Aid Under ‘Sahaya’ Scheme
Over 3,000 Beggars Identified in Odisha to Receive Government Aid: Minister
BHUBANESWAR – The Odisha government has identified 3,009 beggars across the state who will receive support under the ‘Sahaya’ scheme, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Assembly on Friday.
The minister highlighted that the government has established rehabilitation centers in various locations and initiated several measures to assist and rehabilitate beggars under the ‘Sahaya’ scheme.
In a written reply, Gond noted that Sundargarh district reported the highest number of beggars at 417, followed by 400 in Cuttack, 350 in Puri, and 226 in Sonepur. These efforts aim to provide comprehensive support and improve the quality of life for the identified individuals.
