Odisha CM launches veterinary sector projects
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched a series of projects aimed at strengthening the state’s animal resources sector on the occasion of World Veterinary Day.
The chief minister inaugurated 76 veterinary hospitals and four animal aid centres built at a cost of Rs 100 crore to improve veterinary infrastructure and services across the state.
During the event, the government also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six public sector undertakings for the construction of 219 new veterinary hospitals and laboratories.
As part of the initiative, a state-level molecular laboratory will be established at Phulanakhara in Cuttack at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. Additionally, Majhi announced that the state food laboratory would be strengthened with an investment of Rs 6 crore to enhance the quality testing of animal feed.
The initiatives are aimed at boosting animal healthcare services, improving livestock productivity, and supporting the rural economy in Odisha.
