Odisha Govt Increases Paddy Procurement Target to 77 Lakh MT

The Odisha government on Friday announced an increase in its paddy procurement target for the current kharif crop season, raising it from 65 lakh metric tonnes (MT) to 77 lakh MT.
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the group of ministers, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
Incentives for farmers have also been improved, with a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹2,300 per quintal and additional input assistance of ₹800 per quintal. These measures are expected to encourage more farmers to participate in the procurement process.
An official statement highlighted that the enhanced target aims to ensure fair compensation for paddy farmers and support the agricultural sector’s growth.
The state government has been focusing on ensuring smooth procurement operations, which will help prevent distress sales and provide better income for the farming community.
Farmers across Odisha are expected to benefit from the revised procurement target, as the government continues to bolster its support for the agriculture sector.
