Odisha Government Announces Cash Prizes for National Games Medal Winners

The Odisha government has announced cash prizes for athletes from the state who won medals at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. The move aims to recognize and reward the achievements of sportspersons who brought glory to the state.
According to an official press release, Odisha athletes secured a total of 46 medals, including 14 gold, 15 silver, and 17 bronze. With this performance, the state finished in the 12th position in the overall rankings, placing it among the top 15 states in the country. The National Games concluded on Friday.
To encourage and motivate the athletes, the Odisha government has decided to provide cash incentives. Gold medalists will receive Rs 6 lakh each, silver medalists Rs 4 lakh, and bronze medalists Rs 3 lakh.
This initiative is part of the state’s continued efforts to support and promote sports talent. The government has been actively investing in sports infrastructure, training, and incentives to elevate Odisha’s presence in the national and international sporting arena.
Officials expressed their appreciation for the athletes’ dedication and commitment, emphasizing that such rewards will serve as motivation for future sporting events. The cash prizes will be disbursed soon to the deserving athletes as a token of recognition for their outstanding performances.
