Odisha CM Orders Urgent Measures to Contain Diarrhoea Outbreak in Jajpur, Keonjhar
In response to a growing outbreak of diarrhoea in parts of Jajpur and Keonjhar districts, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday directed the state health department to take immediate and comprehensive steps to curb the spread of the disease.
According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), health facilities in both affected districts have been placed on high alert. The directive also includes preventive actions in adjoining districts to avert a wider public health crisis.
“Neighbouring districts have been instructed to stay vigilant. In Jajpur, disinfection of drinking water sources is already underway,” the CMO stated. As an added precaution, the government has temporarily banned street food sales in vulnerable areas and intensified food safety inspections.
The Chief Minister stressed on swift coordination among district administrations, health officials, and local bodies to ensure clean water supply, sanitation, and public awareness.
The health department has mobilized medical teams to the affected zones, while awareness campaigns on hygiene and safe drinking water practices are being stepped up to contain the outbreak.
Authorities have urged residents to report symptoms promptly and avoid consuming food or water from unverified sources.
