PM Modi Embarks on Three-Nation Tour to Strengthen Global Support Against Terrorism
NEW DELHI, June 15 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for a four-day, three-nation tour to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, emphasizing the visit as a key opportunity to deepen bilateral ties and bolster international support against cross-border terrorism.
In his official departure statement, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the trip in advancing India’s global partnerships and promoting a united front against terrorism in all its forms. “This three-nation tour is also an opportunity to thank partner countries for their steadfast support to India in our fight against cross-border terrorism and to galvanize global understanding on tackling terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” PM Modi said.
Strengthening Ties with Cyprus
PM Modi’s visit to the Republic of Cyprus, scheduled for June 15-16, comes at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides. The Prime Minister described Cyprus as a “close friend and an important partner in the Mediterranean region and the European Union.” He noted that the visit aims to strengthen historical ties and expand cooperation in trade, investment, security, technology, and cultural exchanges.
Attending the G7 Summit in Canada
Following his visit to Cyprus, PM Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, to participate in the G7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The summit is expected to focus on major global challenges and key priorities of the Global South. Modi expressed his intent to engage with world leaders on urgent international issues and reinforce India’s role in shaping global outcomes.
Historic Visit to Croatia
On June 18, PM Modi will travel to the Republic of Croatia, where he is set to hold meetings with President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia. PM Modi noted the “centuries-old close cultural links” between the two nations and expressed confidence that the trip would open new avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The tour, which spans three diverse regions, underlines India’s growing global engagement and its resolve to unify efforts against terrorism while strengthening strategic and economic partnerships across continents.
