Odisha CM Inaugurates 9-Day Subhadra Shakti Mela to Boost Women Entrepreneurship

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Subhadra Shakti Mela on Saturday, a nine-day event aimed at fostering women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment in the state. The grand event, held in Bhubaneswar, features participation from over 700 self-help groups (SHGs) and offers a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
With 300 stalls displaying more than 200 products, the mela highlights a diverse range of goods, including millet-based products, organic food items, spice blends, terracotta artifacts, and bamboo crafts. These products reflect the rich cultural heritage and traditional skills of women artisans from across Odisha.
During the inauguration, CM Majhi emphasized the importance of women-led enterprises in driving economic growth and self-sufficiency. “Women entrepreneurs play a crucial role in shaping the state’s economy. The Subhadra Shakti Mela is a testament to their resilience and creativity. This initiative will provide them with new business opportunities and financial independence,” he said.
The mela aims to facilitate market exposure and networking opportunities for women-led businesses, helping them connect with larger markets and potential investors. Various workshops and interactive sessions on entrepreneurship, marketing strategies, and financial management will also be conducted during the event.
Visitors to the fair can explore and purchase locally made, eco-friendly products, promoting sustainability and supporting the livelihoods of rural women. The event is expected to attract a large number of buyers and stakeholders, boosting the visibility of Odisha’s women entrepreneurs.
The Subhadra Shakti Mela will continue for nine days, celebrating the spirit of women entrepreneurship and empowerment in Odisha.
