Odisha Bar Council Suspends Lawyer Two Years

Odisha Bar Council Suspends Lawyer Over Derogatory Social Media Posts

The Odisha State Bar Council has suspended a Bhadrak-based lawyer for two years after finding him guilty of posting derogatory remarks against judicial officers on social media.

The advocate, identified as Hemant Kumar Nayak, allegedly used a fake profile to circulate objectionable content targeting members of the judiciary. Following a probe, the Council’s disciplinary committee held Nayak responsible for professional misconduct.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Council said that Nayak, who has been enrolled as a member since 1998, was found guilty of tarnishing the dignity of the judiciary and violating the professional code of conduct.

The suspension order bars him from practicing law in any court during the period. The Council further noted that such actions undermine public faith in the judicial system and will not be tolerated.
