Odisha Assembly Passes Resolution Praising GST Reforms

The Odisha Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution by voice vote, lauding the BJP-led central government for implementing “next generation” Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, despite a boycott by the Opposition BJD and Congress.

The resolution, moved by Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, was adopted in the evening session in the absence of opposition members, who had staged a walkout over unrelated issues.

“These GST reforms mark a transformative overhaul of the tax system. They simplify the structure, reduce rates on essential items, and aim to accelerate economic growth,” Majhi said while moving the resolution.
