NSG Team Assesses Security at Puri Temple

NSG Team Conducts Security Assessment at Puri Jagannath Temple

A three-member team from the National Security Guard (NSG) has arrived in Puri to conduct a comprehensive security assessment of the Shri Jagannath Temple. The team is currently inspecting the existing security arrangements at the temple and will submit its recommendations to both the temple authorities and the district administration.

The assessment comes in light of growing concerns regarding the temple’s vulnerability as a potential soft target for terrorist attacks, especially following the recent terrorist strike in Pahalgam. The NSG is expected to suggest additional security measures, particularly for the upcoming annual Rath Yatra, a major event that attracts millions of devotees from across the country.

Puri District Magistrate Sidharth Shankar Swain assured that any suggestions made by the NSG would be thoroughly implemented to strengthen the security framework and ensure the safety of both the temple and its visitors. The assessment highlights the growing emphasis on bolstering security at religious and cultural landmarks in India, especially those with large congregations of devotees.

This security review is part of the ongoing efforts by authorities to maintain a vigilant and proactive approach towards ensuring public safety at such iconic sites.
