NIA to open Bhubaneswar branch office

NIA to Open Branch Office in Bhubaneswar for Odisha Operations
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to establish a new branch office in Odisha’s capital, Bhubaneswar, to oversee investigations across the entire state, according to an official notification released on Saturday.

The new office will be located at the Regional Telecom Training Centre of BSNL in Bhubaneswar and will function as a full-fledged NIA police station. A Superintendent of Police (SP)-rank officer will be in charge of the unit.

The branch will be responsible for investigating scheduled offences as defined under the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, allowing the NIA to strengthen its presence and operational efficiency in eastern India.

The move is expected to expedite the investigation of terrorism-related and other national security cases in the region, enabling faster coordination with local law enforcement agencies.

This development marks a significant expansion of the NIA’s regional footprint and reflects the agency’s commitment to enhancing internal security infrastructure across the country.
