Nearly 2,000 kg gold found in Odisha

Gold Deposits of 1,996 Kg Found in Odisha’s Deogarh, Keonjhar Districts
Odisha has reported fresh discoveries of substantial gold reserves estimated at 1,996 kilograms in Deogarh and Keonjhar districts, state Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the Assembly on Thursday.
In a written reply to a question by BJD MLA Ashwini Patra, the minister said nearly 1,685 kg of gold deposits were identified in the Adash area of Deogarh, while about 311.07 kg were found in Gopur of Keonjhar district.
The exploration in Adash was carried out by the Geological Survey of India (GSI), while the survey in Gopur was jointly conducted by the GSI and the State Directorate of Mines and Geology, he added.
Officials said the discovery is expected to boost Odisha’s mineral profile and open avenues for future exploration and investment in the mining sector.
