Fertiliser crisis sparks ruckus in Assembly

Ruckus in Odisha Assembly Over Fertiliser Crisis, House Adjourned Till 4 PM
The Odisha Assembly on Friday witnessed uproarious scenes as Opposition BJD MLAs stalled proceedings, demanding a detailed discussion on the ongoing fertiliser crisis during the kharif season.
As soon as the House convened at 10.30 am for Question Hour, BJD legislators trooped into the well, holding placards and raising slogans against the ruling BJP government, accusing it of being “anti-farmer.”
The protest disrupted proceedings for the day, with the House functioning for barely four minutes. Despite repeated appeals from Speaker Surama Padhy asking the agitating MLAs to return to their seats, the uproar continued.
Amid the ruckus, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the Assembly till 4 pm.
The Opposition alleged that the fertiliser shortage has severely affected farmers across Odisha, forcing many to take to the streets in protest during the crucial sowing season.
