Senior bureaucrat Manoj Kumar Sahoo has been appointed as the private secretary to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.

Sahoo, a 2006-batch IAS officer, was serving as the special secretary to the chief minister after his appointment to the role last month.

The Centre had approved Sahoo’s inter-cadre deputation to Odisha for three years in November 2024, facilitating his transition to the state cadre.

With extensive administrative experience, Sahoo’s new role is expected to strengthen the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and streamline governance initiatives. His appointment reflects the state government’s focus on leveraging skilled bureaucrats for key positions.
