11,000 Odisha Consumers Get Zero Power Bills

Nearly 11,000 electricity consumers in western Odisha recorded “zero electricity bills” in March 2026 after adopting rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, officials said.

A total of 10,885 households achieved zero billing during the month, driven by installations carried out through TP Western Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPWODL) under its 1-kW Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model. The initiative has significantly accelerated rooftop solar adoption across the region.

According to the company, as many as 18,830 consumers in western Odisha had installed rooftop solar systems by March 2026, reflecting a growing shift towards sustainable and self-reliant energy consumption.

Officials noted that the rising adoption of solar power is helping households cut electricity costs while contributing to clean energy goals, marking a key step in promoting renewable energy across the state.
