Man Killed by Brother-in-Law in Odisha’s Ganjam District

A 30-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by his brother-in-law in Ganjam district of Odisha on Tuesday, according to police reports.

The victim, identified as B. Narasinghalu from Manikapur village under Golanthara police station limits, was attacked by his brother-in-law, D. Chelapati (40) from Chati village. Chelapati fled the scene and remains at large, police said.

Bibekananda Swain, inspector in charge of Golanthara police station, stated that Narasinghalu had gone to Chelapati’s house on Monday to mediate a domestic dispute between Chelapati and his wife. Chelapati, who has been married for about seven years, has allegedly been physically abusing his wife, Swain added.

The tragic incident has shocked the local community. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend Chelapati and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime. The police have urged anyone with information on Chelapati’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in the investigation.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further details are awaited as the investigation continues. The local police are working closely with neighboring jurisdictions to track down the accused and bring him to justice.
