Majhi Directs Recruitment Agencies to Fast-Track Hiring in Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed state recruitment agencies to accelerate the hiring process to address over 1.1 lakh vacant posts across various government departments. During a high-level meeting with heads of recruitment agencies, including the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), on Wednesday, Majhi emphasized the urgency of filling these vacancies to bolster the state’s workforce.

Majhi directed all department heads to submit their recruitment proposals to the respective commissions by March 31. This move aims to streamline the hiring process and ensure that critical sectors, including health, home, school and mass education, higher education, and agriculture, have adequate manpower to function efficiently.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing government jobs to 1.5 lakh youths within five years, a target set earlier in his tenure. He expressed concern over delays in recruitment and urged agencies to adopt faster mechanisms to meet hiring goals.

“Expediting the recruitment process is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of key departments that directly impact the lives of citizens,” Majhi said during the discussion.

The government has already initiated steps to identify priority areas and simplify recruitment procedures. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency and fairness in the selection process while adhering to deadlines.

The meeting reflects the state government’s proactive approach to addressing unemployment and strengthening public service delivery by filling critical vacancies. Recruitment agencies are expected to roll out notifications and conduct selection processes in the coming months to meet the March 31 submission deadline.
