Kerala CM Warns Against Controversial Film

Kerala CM Vijayan Calls ‘The Kerala Story 2’ Threat to Secularism

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has raised concerns over the upcoming release of The Kerala Story 2, warning that the film could pose a threat to the state’s secular fabric.

Vijayan noted that the first installment of the film was allegedly produced “with the intent to spread hatred against the state and undermine its secular tradition.” In a statement issued by his office, he questioned how content aimed at creating division and animosity in society was allowed to be screened, while other films like Beef were barred from film festivals.

The Chief Minister also accused Sangh Parivar centres of propagating the misleading narrative presented in The Kerala Story, asserting that such films risk polarising society and spreading false information.

Vijayan’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over freedom of expression, communal harmony, and the role of cinema in shaping public discourse in India.
