‘Squid Game’ creator Hwang Dong-hyuk producing new Netflix series ‘The Dealer’; Jung So-min to lead cast

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is producing a new Netflix crime drama series titled “The Dealer”, with Alchemy of Souls star Jung So-min set to play the lead role.

Netflix confirmed the production of the series on Tuesday and unveiled its principal cast. Alongside Jung So-min, the show will feature Lee Soo-hyuk (Doom at Your Service), Ryoo Seung-bum (Family Matters), and Ryu Kyung-soo (Our Unwritten Souls) in pivotal roles.

In The Dealer, Jung So-min portrays Jung Geon-hwa, a highly skilled and experienced casino dealer who has deliberately kept her life distant from the temptations and corruption of the gambling world. Her carefully built life takes a dramatic turn when a housing scam shatters her plans for a newlywed future.

According to the official logline, Geon-hwa is forced back into the criminal underworld she has long avoided. As she navigates betrayal and danger, she taps into her sharp instincts and hidden strengths, pushing her abilities to their limits in a high-stakes battle for survival.

Produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, The Dealer is expected to blend intense crime drama with character-driven storytelling. Netflix has not yet announced the series’ release date.
