Jajpur Bans Truck Parking on Highways

Jajpur Administration Bans Unauthorized Parking of Goods Trucks on National Highways
In an effort to enhance road safety and prevent accidents, the Jajpur district administration has imposed a ban on the unauthorized parking of goods trucks on national highways passing through the district.
Jajpur Collector P. Anvesha Reddy issued a notification on Thursday, stating that illegally parked goods vehicles on NH-16, NH-53, and NH-20 are obstructing the movement of essential vehicles and increasing the risk of road accidents.
“Keeping in view the safety and security of the general public, unauthorized parking of all goods carriers has been restricted on the main carriageways of NH-16 (Sathipur to Nelia), NH-53 (Balichandrapur to Duburi), and NH-20 (Panikoili to Ragadi Chhak) for a period of one month,” the notification read.
Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violators, as part of the administration’s broader efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize highway mishaps.
The move comes in response to growing concerns over frequent accidents caused by haphazardly parked trucks, which often lead to congestion and pose hazards for other motorists.
With this temporary restriction in place, officials are expected to monitor compliance and assess the need for long-term measures to regulate truck parking along these key routes.
