Instagram Reels Redefine India’s Wedding Trends

Instagram reels, destination weddings, funky jewellery mark 2025 wedding trends; spending set to rise in 2026

Instagram-worthy reels, destination celebrations and quirky jewellery defined wedding trends in India in 2025, as couples continued to celebrate their big day in grand style despite rising gold and silver prices.

The year witnessed a mix of high-profile developments, including the cancellation of a few celebrity weddings that made headlines, alongside several star-studded nuptials. Celebrity couples such as Aadar Jain and Alekha Advani, Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju, and singer Armaan Malik with influencer Aashna Shroff tied the knot, setting new trends in wedding aesthetics and celebrations.

Beyond the celebrity spotlight, weddings among upper-middle-class and middle-class families also became more lavish, driven by social media influence and a growing desire for personalised experiences. From choreographed Instagram reels and themed décor to destination weddings at beach resorts and heritage palaces, couples increasingly opted for celebrations that were both visual and experiential.

According to wedtech platform WedMeGood, wedding spending increased by 8 per cent in 2025, with the average wedding budget on the platform touching around Rs 39.5 lakh. Funky jewellery, customised outfits, intimate guest lists paired with premium services, and professional content creation emerged as key spending drivers.

Industry experts expect this upward trend to continue, with wedding expenditure likely to rise further in 2026 as couples prioritise unique experiences and social media-friendly celebrations, reinforcing weddings as a major contributor to India’s lifestyle and services economy.
