India’s Shriya Satam wins silver in MMA, Bhumika Nehate bags bronze in athletics at Asian Youth Games

India added two more medals to its tally at the Asian Youth Games, with Shriya Milind Satam and Bhumika Sanjay Nehate delivering impressive performances in their respective events on Saturday.
Shriya secured the silver medal in the girls’ 50kg Traditional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) category after an intense final bout against Amelina Bakiyeva of Kazakhstan. Despite a strong start, Shriya had to settle for silver but earned praise for her spirited display throughout the tournament. She earlier dominated her group stage with convincing victories over opponents from the UAE and Kyrgyzstan.
Meanwhile, sprinter Bhumika Sanjay Nehate claimed the bronze medal in the girls’ 200m event, showcasing remarkable speed and composure on the track.
With these achievements, India’s medal tally at the Games now stands at 17 medals — including two gold, six silver, and nine bronze.
The commendable performances of young athletes like Shriya and Bhumika continue to highlight India’s growing strength in diverse sporting disciplines at the continental level.
