18-year-old Sanjana Singh bags second gold as India shines on Day 2 of SAAF Senior Championships

Teen sensation Sanjana Singh, just 18 years old, continued her golden run at the SAAF Senior Championships, clinching her second gold medal in the women’s 1500m event on Saturday.

Sanjana clocked 4 minutes 25.36 seconds, narrowly edging past Sri Lanka’s W K L Arachch Nimali (4:25.52) in a thrilling finish. The talented athlete from Rohtak had earlier secured gold in the 5000m event on the opening day, making her one of India’s standout performers at the tournament.

Fellow Indian Kajal Kanwade also impressed, taking bronze with a timing of 4:26.21.

India continued to dominate the championships, winning seven of the 11 gold medals on offer on the second and penultimate day of the competition. The strong showing further cemented India’s position as the regional athletics powerhouse.
