India Set for 2030 CWG Hosting

CWG 2030: India Set to Secure Hosting Rights at Commonwealth Sport’s General Assembly

India is poised to receive formal confirmation as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with the Commonwealth Sport’s General Assembly in Glasgow expected to approve the country’s bid on Wednesday. The development marks a major milestone in India’s growing ambition to emerge as a global centre for multi-sport events.

Although the approval process will conclude this week, India had been virtually assured of the hosting rights over a month ago, following strong recommendations from the Commonwealth Sport’s Board. The decision came after an extensive evaluation carried out by the Commonwealth Sport’s Evaluation Committee.

India, which last hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in New Delhi, plans to bring the 2030 edition to Ahmedabad. The city has witnessed rapid, large-scale upgrades to its sports infrastructure over the past decade, positioning it as a fitting venue for an international event of this scale.

With Wednesday’s approval expected to be a formality, preparations for the 2030 Games are likely to gather momentum, marking a significant moment for Indian sports on the global stage.
