India, Netflix join hands to promote tourism

Ministry of Tourism Signs MoU with Netflix to Promote India Globally

The Ministry of Tourism has signed a “non-commercial” Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Netflix Entertainment Services India to promote Indian tourism destinations worldwide through cinematic storytelling, the government informed Parliament on Monday.

Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the collaboration aims to highlight India’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and historic sites, including those in Gujarat. The initiative seeks to leverage Netflix’s global reach to showcase the country’s rich tourism potential to international audiences.

The MoU will involve promoting destinations through on-screen visual storytelling, providing global exposure to India’s iconic and lesser-known attractions. This partnership reflects the government’s effort to merge technology, entertainment, and tourism promotion, enhancing India’s visibility as a diverse and vibrant travel destination.

Shekhawat was responding to a parliamentary query on whether the government had entered into a partnership with Netflix to promote tourism through cinematic content and on-screen representation of Indian locations.
