Imran Khan returns to screen with ‘Happy Patel’ cameo

Actor Imran Khan is making his comeback to the big screen after a decade with a cameo in “Happy Patel”, saying his return to films is driven not by the pursuit of stardom but by the joy of reconnecting with cinema.

After staying away from the spotlight for nearly ten years, Imran said he spent the last two years reading several scripts but did not find anything that truly excited him until he heard about “Happy Patel”, the directorial debut of his friend and “Delhi Belly” co-star Vir Das.

“In late 2023, when I started re-emerging from my hibernation and connecting with the world, people said, ‘Hey, this guy is alive’ and started reaching out. But my approach at this point is very different from what it was back then,” Imran told PTI in an interview.

The actor, who was last seen in the 2015 film “Katti Batti”, said he is no longer chasing the idea of becoming a big star and instead wants to choose projects that bring him creative satisfaction.

With “Happy Patel”, Imran hopes to mark a fresh chapter in his career, guided by passion rather than ambition, as he slowly finds his way back into the world of films.
