HC clears Shanth Kumar’s KSCA bid

HC clears Shanth Kumar’s nomination, sets up contest for KSCA top post

Veteran sports administrator K N Shanth Kumar on Saturday welcomed the Karnataka High Court’s decision declaring his nomination for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) president’s post as valid, overturning an earlier rejection by the Electoral Officer.

The ruling paves the way for a direct contest between Shanth Kumar and former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad in the KSCA elections scheduled for December 7.

Calling the verdict a “welcome development,” Shanth Kumar said he was relieved that the court acknowledged his eligibility. “Now we’re working towards building for the election,” he told PTI, reflecting on his three decades of experience in sports administration.

The court’s intervention ends the uncertainty surrounding the nomination process and sets the stage for a closely watched electoral battle for the state cricket body’s top post.
