CWS Joins Shikshagraha Movement to Boost Environmental Learning in Public Schools
The Shikshagraha movement—India’s nationwide, people-powered initiative to improve all one million public schools—gained momentum on Friday as the Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS) formally joined the campaign at Shiksha Samvaad, a convening held at the Bangalore International Centre.
By aligning with Shikshagraha, CWS aims to embed environmental consciousness, wildlife awareness and sustainability practices into classrooms across the country. The collaboration seeks to empower students with hands-on learning opportunities and strengthen ecological literacy at the school level.
At the event, leaders from CWS and education stakeholders highlighted the urgency of integrating nature education into the mainstream curriculum, emphasising that future-ready citizens must be equipped to understand and protect India’s rich biodiversity. The partnership is expected to accelerate community-driven efforts to create greener, more inclusive and engaging learning environments for millions of children.
