Harmanpreet vows focus ahead World Cup final

Harmanpreet Kaur: ‘Don’t Have Words to Express, Focus Now on the Final’
An emotional India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said she was “at a loss for words” after India’s stunning victory over Australia propelled them into the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup final, but stressed that the team’s focus has already shifted to the upcoming title clash against debutant finalists South Africa.
India produced one of their finest chases in women’s cricket history on Thursday, overhauling Australia’s formidable 339-run target to win by five wickets at the DY Patil Stadium. The hero of the night was Jemimah Rodrigues, who crafted an unbeaten century to guide India home in a record-breaking performance.
“Very proud. I don’t have words to express myself. Feeling great — this time we have crossed that line which we’ve been working towards for so many years,” Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation, visibly moved by the team’s achievement.
The skipper lauded Jemimah’s composure and the team’s fighting spirit, saying the victory reflected years of hard work and resilience. “We always believed we could do it. The way everyone contributed today shows the character and hunger in this team,” she said.
With the final now set against South Africa, Harmanpreet said India’s job is far from done. “We’ll enjoy this moment tonight but from tomorrow, the focus is on the final. We want to give our best and finish what we started,” she added.
India’s memorable triumph ended Australia’s title defence and sparked celebrations across the cricketing world as the Women in Blue marched into their third World Cup final, chasing the dream of a maiden world title.
