Govt clears ₹5,532 crore electronics projects

Govt Approves Seven Electronics Projects Worth ₹5,532 Crore
The government has approved seven projects worth ₹5,532 crore under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, aimed at strengthening India’s domestic electronics ecosystem and reducing import dependence, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday.

Addressing reporters, Vaishnaw said the projects were selected from 249 proposals received under the scheme, which seeks to promote large-scale production of key electronic components and sub-assemblies in the country.

“Seven plants under the electronics components scheme have been approved. In the coming days, many more projects will be cleared. We expect these projects to reduce the import bill by around ₹20,000 crore,” the minister said.

The Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, launched as part of the government’s broader ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives, provides financial incentives to boost domestic manufacturing capacity and attract investments in critical electronic parts.

Officials said the approved projects are expected to create significant employment opportunities and contribute to India’s goal of becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing.
