Gadkari Unveils Highways, Promises US-Style Roads

Odisha to Get America-like Highways, Says Gadkari While Launching Projects Worth ₹4,137 Crore
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday announced that Odisha will soon witness the development of highways comparable to those in the United States. He made the remarks while unveiling 19 national highway projects in the state, collectively worth ₹4,137 crore.
Speaking at the event, Gadkari said, “The Centre will provide world-class infrastructure to Odisha, and the people here will soon get America-like highways.”
Highlighting Odisha’s rich natural resources, including ports, minerals, and forests, the minister stressed that improved road infrastructure would significantly enhance connectivity and unlock the state’s tourism potential.
“These projects will not only ease transportation but also contribute to economic growth, especially by promoting tourism and boosting trade in mineral-rich regions,” Gadkari added.
The newly announced projects are part of the Centre’s broader push to upgrade national highways and road networks across the country, aiming to drive regional development and improve accessibility in remote areas.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and state government representatives were present at the launch event.
