From Ground Zero’ to Open Kerala Documentary Festival

From Ground Zero, an anthology of films by 22 Palestinian directors, will be the opening film at the 17th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK), scheduled to begin on August 22.

Organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the festival will showcase the anthology that captures both the scars and resilience of life in Gaza. The collection includes documentaries, short films, and animations that shed light on the untold stories of the genocide unfolding in Gaza since October 2023, the Academy said in a release on Wednesday.

The IDSFFK has over the years served as a platform for socially and politically relevant films, giving voice to struggles and stories from across the world. The inclusion of From Ground Zero underscores the festival’s commitment to amplifying narratives of resistance and survival through cinema.
