Patnaik Slams Odisha’s Visionless Budget Plan

Patnaik Says Odisha’s Supplementary Budget ‘Lacks Vision’

Odisha Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Saturday criticised the supplementary budget presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, claiming it lacked direction and could deepen the state’s fiscal deficit.

Majhi tabled a supplementary budget of ₹17,440 crore in the Assembly on Friday to support ongoing welfare and development initiatives. However, Patnaik, in a post on X, accused the BJP government of “dashing the hopes of people”.

He argued that the budget failed to outline any major infrastructure plans and did not reflect a long-term vision for the state’s progress. Patnaik said the absence of robust developmental schemes raised concerns about Odisha’s financial stability.

The ruling BJP is yet to formally respond to the opposition leader’s remarks.
