Congress President Kharge Dissolves Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee
NEW DELHI: On Sunday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the dissolution of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), following the party’s disappointing performance in recent Lok Sabha and state assembly elections in Odisha.
Kharge’s decision includes the complete dissolution of the OPCC, encompassing its President, office bearers, executive committee, and all affiliated District, Block, and Mandal Congress Committees, as well as Frontal Organizations, Departments, and Cells. This move aims to address the party’s organizational challenges in the state.
The announcement was made through a party statement, which also noted that the current District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents will act as interim leaders until new DCC Presidents are appointed. This step is part of the Congress Party’s strategy to restructure and revitalize its presence in Odisha, in hopes of improving performance in future elections.
The decision marks a significant shift in the party’s approach to addressing electoral setbacks and signals a period of introspection and reorganization within the Congress party in Odisha.
