CM Stalin Unveils Hockey World Cup Trophy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Unveils Trophy for FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025

The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri M.K. Stalin, unveiled the trophy for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 at a special ceremony held at the Secretariat in Chennai on Wednesday. The tournament, to be hosted in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10, 2025, marks a historic edition with participation from 24 teams — the largest in the event’s history.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, Chief Secretary Shri N. Muruganandam, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Atulya Misra, and SDAT CEO Shri J. Meghanatha Reddy. Also present were Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey, Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh, and Treasurer Thiru Sekar J. Manoharan, who also serves as President of the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu.

India, the host nation and two-time champions (2001, 2016), are placed in Pool B alongside Oman, Chile, and Switzerland, and will begin their campaign against Chile on November 28 at the iconic Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai.

Expressing pride over the occasion, Dr. Dilip Tirkey said, “It is a moment of great pride to see the Honourable Chief Minister unveil the Junior World Cup trophy. Tamil Nadu has always been a strong supporter of Indian hockey, and we are delighted to bring this prestigious event to Chennai and Madurai. The state’s world-class facilities and passion for the sport will make this edition truly memorable.”

Hockey India Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh added, “The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup represents the future of global hockey. Hosting it in India provides a tremendous opportunity for our young players. With Tamil Nadu’s support, this tournament will set new benchmarks and inspire the next generation of Indian hockey stars.”

The unveiling marks the beginning of an exciting build-up to the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025, as India prepares to showcase its sporting excellence and hospitality to the world.
