Chitrapataka: Marathi Film Festival Logo Unveiled

Logo Unveiled for First International Marathi Film Festival ‘Chitrapataka’

In a landmark moment for regional cinema, Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar on Tuesday officially unveiled the logo of the first-ever International Marathi Film Festival, titled ‘Chitrapataka’.

Scheduled to be held from April 21 to 24, the festival will take place at the P L Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Mumbai. It aims to celebrate and showcase the richness of Marathi cinema on a global stage.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Minister Shelar said, “The name ‘Chitrapataka’ symbolizes the spirit of Marathi cinema soaring beyond boundaries—a valiant Mavla (foot soldier in the Maratha army) holding a banner and a reel-shaped shield atop a horse. This powerful metaphor is beautifully reflected in the official logo.”

The festival promises to bring together filmmakers, actors, critics, and cinema lovers from around the world to engage with Marathi cinema in new and meaningful ways. It will feature film screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and cultural events aimed at promoting Marathi language and storytelling through the cinematic lens.

Organizers are hopeful that Chitrapataka will not only be a celebration of Marathi films but also a stepping stone for local filmmakers to reach international audiences.
