Auto Industry Seeks Govt Cooperation to Secure Critical Raw Materials

Leading auto industry bodies on Friday called for closer collaboration with the government to secure critical raw materials and technologies essential for the sector’s future growth.

The demand was highlighted at the annual session of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), where industry leaders underscored the importance of addressing supply chain vulnerabilities amid shifting geopolitical alignments and evolving trade agreements.

ACMA President Shradha Suri Marwah emphasized that India’s automotive sector is committed to turning global challenges into opportunities and positioning the country as a reliable and competitive hub for mobility components.

“Critical raw materials, the availability of rare earth magnets, semiconductors and battery inputs is becoming a strategic issue that requires national focus,” Marwah said in her address.

Industry representatives noted that a resilient automotive supply chain, backed by government support in securing rare earths and advanced technologies, will be crucial for sustaining India’s growth momentum in the global mobility market.

The session also discussed the need for policy interventions, long-term resource partnerships, and research investments to safeguard India’s auto industry against external shocks while advancing towards clean and sustainable mobility.
