PM Modi Meets Fourth King of Bhutan, Joins Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan, in Thimphu on Wednesday and extended warm felicitations on the occasion of His Majesty’s 70th birth anniversary.

During the audience, Prime Minister Modi conveyed the best wishes and prayers of the Government and people of India for the Fourth King’s good health and long life. He also expressed gratitude for His Majesty’s leadership and guidance in strengthening the enduring friendship between India and Bhutan.

Both leaders held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the shared spiritual, cultural, and historical ties that continue to unite the two nations.

Later, Prime Minister Modi participated in the Global Peace Prayer Festival at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu. The event featured the Kalachakra initiation ceremony, presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo, Bhutan’s Chief Abbot.

The Prime Minister joined King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and the Prime Minister of Bhutan in the ceremony, which symbolised the deep spiritual harmony and friendship between India and Bhutan.

The visit further highlights India’s commitment to its unique and time-tested partnership with Bhutan, built on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.
