Odisha to plant 75 lakh saplings

Odisha to Plant 75 Lakh Saplings on PM Modi’s 75th Birthday: CM Majhi

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday appealed to the people of Odisha to actively participate in the ‘Ek Peed Maa Ke Naam – 2’ campaign, announcing that 75 lakh saplings will be planted across the state on September 17, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birth anniversary.

In a video message, Majhi said the massive plantation drive would be a symbolic gift to the Prime Minister and a step towards strengthening the state’s green cover. “We have set a target of planting 7.5 crore trees this year under the second edition of the campaign, which began on June 5 and will continue till September 30,” he said.

The Chief Minister urged people from all walks of life—students, farmers, institutions, and community groups—to join the initiative and contribute to Odisha’s environmental sustainability efforts.

Officials said the plantation drive on September 17 will be carried out in schools, colleges, government institutions, community spaces, and forest areas across all districts.

The ‘Ek Peed Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched to encourage mass participation in tree plantation, has been hailed as one of the largest state-led green drives in the country.
